First things first- Yes, I’m a left-handed person.
And I’m going to waste this web space on enlightening the “righties” on our predicament. And that would be because as much as it is strange for you right-handed mortals to see someone using their left-hand to write or eat, it is equally annoying (though sometimes amusing) for us left-handed mortals to answer the question “Aap lefty ho?”! Now you may say that you were just curious or that there are very few “lefties” (actually there are 10% of us of the total population of earth, roughly 10 million) but use the left side of your brain for a minute here since right handed people have a propensity for left brain dominance which is responsible for analytical and logical thought- If I was a right handed person, why on earth would I use my left hand to write or eat? So when you ask someone “Aap lefty ho?”, you know the answer but you are only stating your disbelief. Now again, that’s perfectly fine. But it is not so fine for left-handed people. It is annoying because for us lefties, we are lefties 24x7x365. Not just for that moment you noticed our dexterity. Therefore to have someone point out such an immaterial thing about us every time we meet someone new is not particularly exciting.
It’s funny how some studies show that left handed people live 9 years less than right handed people and are more emotional and aggressive. Well damn right we are. It’s a right handed world. Scissors, guitars, bread toaster and even DSLR cameras are made keeping in mind the right handed people. But we adapt. We start adapting to this righty world right from the start. And no one notices our struggle. Until one day you notice us writing and blankly go “Tu lefty hai kya?”! Now why wouldn’t we be angry? Why don’t the companies capitalise on the mostly unexplored region of products made with left handed orientation considering our high percentage in sports and arts like? Or why don’t the politicians lobby for left-handed utilities considering our percentage in world leaders (Before you smirk at me, politicians have lobbied for much apparent puerile causes!)? I think it’ll be a good move if that happens because even though Christians might believe left handedness to be evil and satanic, Buddhists believe that left handed people are actually wiser. Also being left handed means having a propensity for right brain dominance which is responsible for creative thought. So we are wiser and creative which means we will put the left handed orientation products to good use. Trust me, we will. We will never take anything for granted and we will never ask you righties if you are righties?!
P.S- The lefties are required to like this post in public interest!
“Right” thoughts on being “left”! Hehe that’s a good punchline!

Correction-10% per cent of world population would be roughly about 670 million.
Copying a fact from internet without checking is not a very good idea, i guess. Apologies for the error.

It’s so true! Being a lefty has been viewed as a bad thing for ages! sinister actually comes from the Latin word from left!
