December: Freedom, BFs and lots of drama!!

EXAMS. A dreadful yet necessary ordeal all students MUST FACE every few months. Time stood still as I , a sleep-deprived zombie, consumed large amounts of coffee and pondered over notes and books. Day after day. Never felt so focused. More like a terminator- with a SINGLE mission- to pass my exams…the EXAMINATOR!
IT’S OVER NOW!

I’M FREE LIKE A BIRD!

Cue music- FREEDOM, FREEDOM, FREEDOM, YOU’VE GOTTA GIVE FOR WHAT YOU TAKE! (Thank you George Michael for this amazing and delightful song!)

Met my long lost best friend from school at a mall. We planned the meeting on fb. She hasn’t changed at all! We chatted for four hours- about our school days. She still remembers the tiniest detail; told me to remain in touch. I WILL!

After saying goodbye to my friend, I boarded the Metro to reach home and took out my cellphone. Then I saw her; She-who-must-not-be-named, the Voldemort of my life, the overconfident #@!%*. Surrounded by her minions (“friends”), she glanced at me. I stood unaffected by the doors; listening to Taylor Swift singing about ‘love stories’ through my headphones. She waved her hand. I would’ve ignored her. But for the sake of my mother’s social life, I greeted her as warmly as possible. She was all “So you’re in a Govt. college? Wow. You’re so INTELLIGENT! ME? I had to drop this year.”

It’s amazing how people seem to behave differently every time you meet them. They develop a spontaneous personality, unlike their original personality of a total moron. Maybe that’s why humans are the most intelligent species on earth : their ability to adapt and evolve according to the situations.

Boyfriend situation- Still no luck!  There’s this guy, my friend on fb. He seems nice; I had a huge crush on him in school. Should I ask him out? Or wait for him to make his move? Nishu, where are you??

I think something has changed between me and my closest friend- Nishu. She seems too busy these days. Maybe this long distance thing isn’t working out; she has many other interesting things going on in her life. More interesting than listening to me go on and on about my boring life. I sound like a jealous EX (I’M NOT!!)

Maybe she has finally GOT A BF!! I’m just babbling now; it is so unlikely of her. OR IS IT NOT??

Back to that encounter in the Metro with the lady Voldemort! Why do I hate her so much? I don’t know exactly. It was some of that queen bee persona plus her inability to understand other people’s emotions.

Our first (and only) conversation, which happened last year at a coaching institute, went like this-

“Hi” I introduced myself.

“Hi! So my mom told me about you.” (My mom was friend and colleague of her mom, still is).

“Yeah, mine too.”

“I’ve to confess something. Hope that doesn’t make you uncomfortable. Got to make the situation clear to you” Smirk appeared on her smug little face.

“Go on.” I smiled, totally unprepared for what she was going to say next.

“Should I call you didi in front of my friends or should I call you by your name only? You know, since you’re one year older than me. I’m the topper of my school, always been like that. Just so you know” (I had to drop one year to prepare for my engineering entrance exams)

Barely managing a fake smile, I spoke, “You can call me by my name.”

“Okay. See you later.” She went back to her friends.

I WAS STUNNED. JUST FOR A MOMENT.

P.S- I later called Nishu, and guess what? the  girl is in love!

MYSTERY SOLVED!
