Agneepath Agneepath Agneepath!

I’m I’m sure you read the title in the epic voice of Amitabh Bachhan! While before the release of the movie, most of us were saying that Hrithik won’t be able to reach the level of Amitabh Bachhan, but after watching it, I feel that the makers have succeeded to present us a fine remake which retains the spirit of the original and also has a soul of its own.

It is always noticed that when the audiences hit the theatre’s space, they carry along the flashes of those characters along. Result: the comparisons happen! Thus it falls upon the stars to satisfy the viewers and help them forget the comparisons with their extra dose of well-delivered performance. And I must say Hrithik Roshan fits well into the strapping character of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan played by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan twenty two years back. Plus, debutante Karan’s execution makes the product even more contemporary for the audiences who view it as if they are watching a new flick. That’s the beauty and the skill of the director.

Its heart over head for this Vijay and Hrithik exudes that vulnerability with enough strength, not afraid to let it overwhelm him, especially in the scene when he returns to Mandwa. He finds a worthy adversary in Sanjay’s Kancha, which is one of the best performances that we’ve seen in a long time from Sanjay. Rishi Kapoor too is deliciously despicable in his career’s most memorable negative role.

Ajay-Atul’s music as well as the the background score will leave a lasting impact. Abbas Ali Moghul’s action is raw and unrestrained. Piyush Mishra is impressive once again with his dialogues filled with rhetoric punches every now and then. Cinematography by Ravi K Chandran and Kiran Deohans is also noteworthy.

Despite the film having a three-hour runtime, you never lose the narrative for a moment, thanks to Akiv Ali’s editing. The only slacker is the obligatory romance track but thankfully even that is kept short. Agneepath is sure to live up to your expectations and I must say much better made and executed than the original Amitabh Bachchan Version. With Bollywood being obsessed with remakes in recent times, Agneepath is an important lesson on how to pay proper tribute to the original.

Agneepath surely has a lot of fire and it is definitely going to be a big hit. This is one movie which you don’t want to miss. I’ll give it 4 out of five stars.

  1. Hey I just saw the movie!

I seriously stopped comparing the movie with the Amitabh sir’s version (mind you, I am a great great fan of Amitabh Bachchan!) after the first half. The movie could have been a lot better!

  2. Saw the movie and really not as good as the writer is trying to portrait it, it is truly a biased review.. What happens is, if you post these kind of reviews, the writer and the website both looses their credibility. Hope to see thoughtful writing next time.

  3. Indeed Worth Watching! I believe the movie lost on that 5th star because its a remake. Else all other aspects of the movie are impeccable.

Its not just one of the finest performances by Sanjay Dutt but I would rate Kancha to be one of finest antiheros played by actors world over!

As for Hritik, he has just kept on his Guzaarish legacy !!!

    Hang-over will last long!
