Aiyyaa – When manhunting goes wakda
The girl who made millions of fans in her performance in Kuch kuch hota hai, is now back in a anew avatar!
Aiyyaa, scheduled to be released on October 12 this year is a comedy movie where Rani Mukherjee plays a Marathi Mulgi.
The trailer released today seems to indicate that the story is quite fresh and audience may probably end up falling in love with the characters.
The movie is directed by Sachin Kundalkar and the plot is loosely based on one of his famous stories Gandha in which a girl falls in love with a man solely because she likes his smell. But Sachin claims that the storyline for the movie is vastly different.
The trailer itself will make you laugh out loud with Rani’s tangy looks, her oversized goggles, her eye fluttering, attempts at being shy; and overall setup of a typical household trying to have a quirky daughter married.
What makes the movie even more interesting is south heartthrob Prithviraj Sukumaran. He plays the object of desire of Meenakshi (Rani). The point that sort of sets this movie apart from streamline cinema is that gender role reversal is shown, a woman chasing a man instead of vice versa.
