The online store of Android for Android application might be launched this month. The store is getting its finishing touches.
Official details are yet to be released.
the much awaited store will put the company in direct competition with Google in the Android smartphone market. Apple’s app store has some 250,000 apps, while Google’s web site has about 80,000. It is being predicted in the technology circles that similar to Apple and Google deals, Amazon also would give developers a 70 percent cut of sales.
From an online book retailer, Amazon has today expanded its portfolio into digital music, video and e-books through its Kindle e-reader.
It is still not clear as to which Andoid devices the store will support and also how it will be distributed. Google’s Android comespreloaded on all Android smartphones where as Amazon will have to ink deals with device makers to get its app store in there. It will be interesting to see whether Amazon’s Android app store and Google market will coexist on a device.
Speculating the cost, experts feel that the developers will reportedly have to pay $100 to sign up. Apps can either be free or paid. As of now, Amazon’s app store will likely be available only in the U.S.
