After the semester system, now the new topic of agony is the Attendance System. Delhi University has proposed to make student attendance records available online. I noticed on HT Education page a few days back the growing resentment about the proposal.
A few mixed reactions to the question
Should universities share students’ attendance and marks information publicly online?
I think no because students will become more frustrated than usual..Students didnt wish to disclose their marks or any other information without their permission publicly..

Students’ marks and attendance should be publicly exposed online. Generally students feel very shy about disclosing their marks, however when it will be visible to everyone then less marks will hurt their dignity and they put in more efforts to upgrade it. Moreover it will also boost the transparency between authority and students diminishing space for partiality and corruption.

no,becz..attendance should be kept the way it is ,it may demotivate or student may not like it ,he/she may feel insulted, as we all knw the rate of students sucides is increasng i think ths may also can give rise to it……….

to show it publicly is not good, becauseanybody with lesser marks wont feel comfortable as he know that everybody knows about his permormence and it may have bad impact on him……..there may be so many reasons for his bad performence, but he cant justify himself to everybody……..because people will only see the results………

I don’t think, Universities should share marks and attendance publicly because a student is always under stress due to parents, teachers, competition and other reasons.
His/Her performance may always not be the same. And sharing it publicly is actually of no use.
It only depresses a student.

Attendance and marks of students should be publicly available online taking into consideration the hidden reasons. Though, on one hand, people might say that it will lead the students to be demotivated because the students with less marks and attendance would be ashamed publicly. But, according to me, that very shame would lead the students to work harder for their marks and attendance. That peer pressure which leads the students to buy branded clothes and techno-savvy gadgets will surely lead the students to work harder for their attendance and marks.

yes, universities should share students’ attendence and marks info publicly online as it would be more transparent.though some students might be ashamed but this would bring into picture the true scene , even parents could also be well aware of their child….

No. It is violation of students privacy. What purpose does sharing this info publicly serve ?
