Best job offers in Indian Colleges

Last year in December, Karan Narain from Agra hit the headlines for all the right reasons. This young man who was pursuing M.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur grabbed a job offer of $137,000 (Over 73 Lakh) at Pocket Gems, a US based applications Development Company. This year NIT Trichy was made proud when a CS student got a job offer of $1.25 lakh (about 70 Lakh INR). Company name was undisclosed for security reasons. Read Complete News here

In December 2010, DKS (full name undisclosed) from IIT Kharagpur got job offer of Rs 70 Lakh (a starting salary of $90,000, a relocation bonus of $10,000 and a one-time signing amount of $25,000) from Facebook with job posting in USA.

In October last year, a final year student in BITS Pilani got placed in Redmont International Ltd, with a starting salary of close to 60 LPA. This company is also based in Canada and USA.

In late march this year, sources from MNNIT said that a student got job offer from Facebook for a whopping 1.33 crores. The social media got abuzz with the news and there were many claiming to know the news to be true. The authenticity of the news could not be verified though.

Among the private engineering colleges, Galgotia shone in June this year with the news of it’s highest campus placement offer touching 50 LPA. The student who got this offer was pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science. The company name was not revealed but it was mentioned that the company is based in USA.

These, and more such placement news tell a lot about the general trend in high paying campus placements.

Though many would argue but as per statistics, among Engineering branches, Computer Science graduates are luckiest when it comes to pocketing biggest jobs in private companies. More over, the companies picking up these bright minds are generally based outside India.

In India, with over 11 lakh students appearing for engineering entrance exams likes AIEEE, IIT JEE, BITSAT and more, the crucial factor that decide which college they ultimate chose among the ones available with their ranks is the Placement Statistics. AglaSem has also observed that more than branch of their own interest, a student keeps prodding on which branch gets better jobs and which branch is better for government jobs.

Though career guidance experts often urge students to rather take a branch which they would like to pursue their career in, time and again students, fresh from schools look at only Campus Placements.
