CAT 2013 Day 3 Analysis

Though in the first two days candidates said that Section 1 (Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation) was tougher than Section 2 (Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning), on Day 3 the verdict was different. The opinion was that QA section was moderately tough whereas VA was tougher.

QA & DI

The section questions were calculation intensive, but easy.

Maximum Questions asked: Geometry and Functions (10-12 questions in all)

Other questions: Arithmetic, Trigonometry, Functions, Mensuration, Time Speed, Distance.

Least questions: Number System. In fact in many sets on Day 3, this topic was missing from many students question set.

Data Interpretation questions: Pie Chart and Bar Diagram. The questions were very.

VA & LR

The questions from Verbal Ability covered almost all topics. Logical Reasoning was easy. For some students, Reading comprehension took up a lot of time to read three passages which were based on descriptive and one was based on Recession. Questions were although direct.

Verbal Ability Questions: Reading Comprehension, Para Jumble, Vocabulary, Error correction in paragraph, identifying the Out of Context sentences, fill in the blanks.

Toughness quotient: RC Passages were very long while questions were direct. Difficulty level was average but all the passages were lengthy. Vocabulary questions can also be termed as difficult.

Logical Reasoning questions were easy. Questions were mainly from circular arrangements and blood relations.

CAT 2013 Expected Cut off: Aspirants may expect a lower cut off in Quant section, VA and LR section may have higher cut offs.
