Chennai Zone [Announced on May 22]
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 10 results for the Chennai region (which includes Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Pondicherry, Andaman & Nicobar, Daman & Diu and Lakshadweep) late on Monday evening. The results of both the school-based exam and the board exam were declared. The sudden announcement surprised everyone though it helped reduce students’ anxiety as there was no hype and results were no longer a big deal.
A number of students have scored Cumulative Grade Point Average of 10 (A1), the highest possible grade.
A CGPA of 10 means that a student has scored between 90% and 100%. This is the third year that the CBSE has issued grades for each subject that add up to a CGPA instead of marks. Also, this is the second year that students had the option of appearing for either a school or a board exam.
A total of 1,52,086 students registered for the exams and 1,52,024 students appeared. Of these students, 97,259 were board based, 54,741 were school based and 86 were private candidates. In total, candidates represented 2,117 schools across the region. *
A total of 1,51,509 students Qualified for Admission to Higher Classes, while 432 were Eligible for Improvement Of Perfomance (EIOP). Candidates wishing to apply for EIOP have been asked to apply for the same before June 22. The tentative date for the EIOP examination has been set for July 22.*
