DTU commences online choice filling starting today (23rd June, 2011) at 10a.m. to 29th June, 2011. There are 15 B.Tech programs for which 10827 applications have been registered for online counseling between 7th to 15th June, 2011. These 15 UG programs avail admission to 1218 students out of which 85% shall be admitted from the Delhi region. The students are allowed to fill their choice in accordance with their preference from 1-15.
As the chairman of admissions, DTU explains, “The candidates shall be able to change their choices so long as they have not locked the choice filling form. However, once the choice filling form has been locked by the candidate no change in the preferences offered by the candidates will be allowed”.
The choices should be filled up very carefully and with much care as to what you specifically need and the program you may get with your rank. To study this better one should look into the previous year’s cut-off rank for various branches and compare your rank with that, this applies to all open category students as for Delhi category students, they should compare the state ranks.
As one might not know the exact state cut-off rank (since only AIR is considered) we can apply a small approximation as to predict what the state rank shall be for the given cut-off rank. For that a factor should be calculated, this factor is nothing but the ratio of previous years state rank to the AIR, when averaged for a 100 results approximately comes out to be 0.088. Multiplying this factor with the cut-off AIR you shall obtain the approximate state cut-off rank and then you can compare your state rank with that. This might prove an effective method in ascertaining your admission to the college with a program of your liking.
On 5th July, 2011 the 1st list of admissions shall be announced and the selected candidates should report from 6th July onwards as per the schedule provided at
Vice Chancellor DTU Shri. P. B. Sharma proudly proclaims “We at DTU are firmly committed to maintain total transparency in our admission process and shall uphold merit based admission through our online system, informs Prof. P.B. Sharma”
Indian Fusion wishes Best of Luck to all the aspirants.
