The word ‘intelligence’ refers to any individuals’ mental capacity to engage in rational thinking and aptitude in grasping things, using his faculties of mind. ‘Trust’ refers to a relationship between people who have faith in each-other and can accept some action without really questioning the other person’s position.
Thus it becomes very natural that main purpose of education is to make a human intelligent, equip one to lead a happy, fulfilling and satisfactory life. Prepare him to to face the challanges of life. Note- Above can only be achieved by finding the right profession in life. Unfortunately, except in few schools and colleges in the country, this fact does not attract much attention.
Education is for life, and an education that does not prepare one for a meaningful and congenial profession, is irrelevant and meaningless. It is indeed lamentable that today’s rural youth, who acquires some level of education, ends up being unemployed, since he finds it below his dignity to become a farmer once again. At the same time, there is nothing that job market can offer him. Our mindset seems to be acquisition of a white-collor job, instead of a meaningful vocation. Education should raise an individual’s sense of dignity of labour. An educated farmer or an artist is far more productive than an uneducated one.
Thus, in conclusion, I strongly support the view that self-actualization is more important then bank balance.
