For all those who have not visited DTU, this is one of the most inevitable routes that you have to cross, there can be some exceptions though.
This is a route that employs near about 50 3-wheelers or auto rickshaws with their own association. The president of this association has the job to look upon that all the autowaalas get a chance to earn revenue. It is a very good service that helps us connect with new friends, seniors, sometimes to reveal certain disputes etc etc.
Its service starts at near about 8:30 am and can extend according to the convenience of the students, this is the biggest advantage of this service.
The other advantage is that one can show his gymnastic skills by sitting on the front seats with the driver or by hanging behind or near the entrance (in case of the big autos that have a capacity or I must say over capacity of 16, part of personal experience). Hanging on the entrance or at the back may have a serious aftermath sometimes, also a part of personal experience.
There are certain disadvantages too.
The small auto rickshaws charge Rs.15 and the Over capacity rickshaws (OCR’s) charge only Rs.10 for the adrenaline pumping experience. For sometime due to their incompetence to the OCR’s the small auto rickshaws changed their rates to Rs.10, but after considering some privacy advantages wherein people in a relationship (provided both parties are “colleagues” in DTU) have the privilege to discuss their feelings and disputes if any without much people knowing about it, they revised their rates to Rs.15.
So, it remains a disadvantage for people like me (until now).
The OCR’s have a pretty good entertainment factor. There are certain conductors who show their gymnastics and their attitude trying to impress some girls. So, inevitably you are entertained for sure.
Well, this is a great service and it deserves a standing ovation………..
Hail all the “auto”(practical male pronunciation) and “autowaale bhaiyas”(practical female pronunciation)……….
