Debutant Huma Qureshi will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s soon to be released film “Gangs of Wasseypur”. The movie has been screened at the 65th Cannes Film Festival. And true to it’s reputation, the movie moved the crowd to give a standing ovation to the director at the prestigious event. And no one was more delighted than the newbie herself, Huma Qureshi!
And this girl knows how to do things with a panache! She actually made heads turn when she walked the red carpet in her black ensemble.
The new lady in movies, is actually a Dilliwallah through and through. You can take the girl out of Delhi, but you can’t take Delhi out of the girl. She was always drawn towards theater and performing arts mainly coz it was fun for her. She was a student at Gargi college and even in college time, she did a lot of theater. And in her words, she was so enthu that she was always the first to arrive for practice and would often even take care of cleaning the stage if need be! For her, theater meant a lot. And when the time came for her to take up the glamorous world as a career option, she had a pretty tough time convincing her family. But in the end, it all turned out well. Her first assignment was an ad shoot with Abhishek Bachchan. Later on she did some more TVC shoots with SRK and Amir Khan. During one of these shoots, Kashyap had spotted her and although he offered her the role there, she did not believe him.
In Gangs of Wasseypur, we will see her as girl who thinks she is Madhuri. And she falls in love with a boy who thinks he is Amitabh Bachchan. The movie also features Manoj bajpai and Kahani sensation Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The storyline explores coal mafia in Dhanbad and according to Kashyap is a very true movie, in terms of script, dialogues and even music.
Some upcoming movies in her bag are ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’ and Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Ek Thi Daayan’ and more!
Way to go girl!
