IDIOT BOX MAKING IDIOT

From last decade craze of television has increased at a speed of light in India. When government should look at the matter, on contrary they are sleeping on this issue. I am not against technology but the point is, is this technology helping us. There are always advantages and disadvantages of every aspect but we have to see whether the following is useful or not for the mass.

Its not that television has no plus point but now those are covered by the profit in the market. Programmes delivered has no check by censor board. Children have no check by parents on the broadcast they watch. They continuously watch action or sexually oriented praogrammes which is damaging their sense of humour. Distance between child and parents which we call a generation gap is the main consequence of the same. Teens are moving apart from the schedulde they should follow. On all this social networking sites, playstation and computer games has damagethe evening play time of kids. After all that late night TV shows are also creating big trouble in their life. Problem with TV is that it start early comparing to other forms of media according to research often at the age of two. According to analysis on an average —children ages 2-5 spend 32 hours a week in front of a TV. —Kids ages 6-11 spend about 28 hours a week in front of the TV. —In 53% of households of 7th- to 12th-graders, there are no rules about TV watching. — In 51% of households, the TV is on “most” of the time. — Kids with a TV in their bedroom spend an average of almost 1.5 hours more per day watching TV than kids without a TV in the bedroom. These analysis shows that TV is wasting the most important phase of child development…

If TV is watched for some knowledge there is no wastage. Watching DISCOVERY or other knowledgeable channel to learn about cultures or for exposure to different ideas is no harm but watching daily soap programmes or movies is a sheer wastage of time. This will have an adverse affect on our mental as well as physical health. Censor board should have some strict laws in this issue such as broadcasting should be stopped for movies and ‘sass bahu ‘ programmes after certain time. Repeatition of programmes should be limited to one and other such steps should be taken to save FUTURE of INDIA….
