IIT Kanpur to conduct its own entrance test from 2013 : IIT Student Senate Opinion

IIT D Senate has also decided to conduct its own entrance examination. This decision was arrived upon in the Senate meeting on Thursday. IIT K senate is in full support of the decision.

IIT Kharagpur rejects new format, backs IIT Kanpur

In a clear revolt against the human resource development ministry’s move for a common entrance test, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur Friday decided to hold its own entrance test from 2013.
Upset with the ministry’s decision to merge IIT Joint Entrance Exam (IIT-JEE) with the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), the 210-member senate of IIT-Kanpur passed a resolution rejecting the new format.

One exam for all the engineering institutes is going to increase pressure on students even more; In addition including School marks might be a good idea in concept is difficult to implement as a proper method of normalization is needed across boards in addition to drastic changes in way we teach at school is needed to make it more fun and applied as compared to rote learning.
