India VS West Indies : A series of umpiring blunders

Nothing in this world is perfect. Everything has some lapses, be it human being, any gadget or machine, or anything you can quote. The Umpires in the series between India and West Indies are a perfect epitome of imperfection. The series will be remembered not for any classic batting or heart-warming bowling by any player, majorly due to the poor decision casted in the game throughout the series. It all started with the only Twenty20 game in Trinidad that kicked off the tour and as things moved on, shocks and surprises remained in store for both the teams.

1st One-day: Rohit Sharma wouldn’t had scored 86, if the leg before decision off Devendra Bishoo’s bowling that was wrongly judged not out-been corrected.
Ramaresh Sarwan was out twice (leg-before) but wasn’t given.
Praveen Kumar’s leg-cutter to Marlon Samuels that got to pad didn’t move the umpire as well.

3rd One-day: Virat Kohli went to pavilion after umpire gave him out leg-before when ball appeared to go nowhere towards the stumps.
Kieron Pollard was adjudged caught behind, but replay showed there wasn’t any conversation of bat with ball.

4th One-day: Samuels ( poor chap ) was wrongly interpreted leg-before as the ball was going above the stumps.

The horror of the One day matches continued in the tests too….

1st Test: Six decisions against India and three against West Indies, went wrong, that almost threatened to change the course of the match.

END OF DARYL HARPER’S CAREER.

2nd Test: Memorable for Dhoni’s dismissal, thanks to a faulty telivision replay.
Asad Rauf declared Suresh Raina caught at forward short-leg, but replay showed there was no contact of ball with bat.
Darren Bravo suffered a similar fate when the umpire raised his finger for a caught behind appeal.

The good old days of human eye adding to the cricketing charm seems to be losing it’s appeal. Hope, in future, Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS) will take care of all these blunders.
