Some movies have an uncanny habit of developing into a film franchise. A film franchise symbolizes a series of films wherein the title and certain constituents of a movie remain the same, but the story alters in every installment.
Jannat was about a man’s pursuit for heaven, the gluttony to attain the extravagance in life as hastily as possible. Jannat 2 is about arms trafficking along the same lines as Jannat was about the cricketing world’s dark side. We have seen in Bhatts’ past endeavors that the stories borrow a lot from factual life and this is religiously followed by JANNAT 2. The movie has a traceable resemblance with the Nicolas Cage starrer LORD OF WAR, but no comparisons here.
While the first hour of the movie sets up the stage for a fascinating second hour, it’s actually the intermission point that literally sets the ball rolling.
Randeep Hooda, famous for his roles in “Once Upon a Time in Mumbai” and “Saheb Biwi aur Gangster”, once again delivers a great performance as ACP Pratap; the hardened maverick cop, who has a personal vendetta against the gun nexus. And Emraan Hashmi is his own charismatic self all over. I overheard another viewer say “his credible act, makes the devil seem charming”. Debutante Esha Gupta enchants you with her captivating performance. She appears a tad unrefined at places, nonetheless she handles her part assertively.
The movie is predictable, yet gripping.
No spoilers here for you. Enjoy the trailer and then grab the tickets to the next show!
You must have read similar synopsis by now, so just a little bit about the story!
