Remember when you learned to drive? You had to do all the silly exercises and teach your muscles to change gear and know where the pedals were without looking. There were a lot of new things to remember, new habits to get into.
Finally, you can go anywhere in your car.

Learning guitar is just like that,
perfecting scales and chord changes might be a drag, but when you have it done, you can play any piece of music and any instrument. To be the best, you have to dedicate yourself the best you can.

Learning the different chords, differences between the chords, shift from one chord to another and formations of chords is really a tough job, think of it as a math formula and that’s just what it is. It’s fixed.
Keep playing the chords learned everyday. Soon you will realize you can shift among the chords without looking at your guitar, this is because of a thing called muscle memory. If you do something a lot, like throwing a ball, changing gear, the muscles involved learn to do these actions by themselves, without you being aware of the process. So when you have been playing these chords regularly, you can shift chords, up and down in seconds without even looking. You don’t need to be aware of all the processes involved? You just do it without needing to think about it.

I remember the night when I became good at guitar. My mom always used to complaint about the noise I kept making with the guitar at night, then one night she complained about my stereo; she thought it was a stereo playing when it was me. What a lovely moment that was!
