In continuation to But I Loved Her Part……(1)
Recap : Ram tries to call Nita, but she remains unavailable. She has to help him out in an assignment as he remembers her.
That clever lady, very fond of making her boy friend’s wait was in a way tantalizing. He couldn’t just forget her not like that, because she was the only girl to have understood him quite well.
“But was that all I ever wanted”, “to be just friends”, thought Ram.
She is so beautiful, engaging, ridiculously intelligent one would bet no boy can hold on to her for long as “just friends”.
It was 10 am in the morning, a Sunday morning that had unusually started with the thought of an assignment rather than the ecstatic hangover of the last night’s “TELE NIGHT OUT”.
As Ram fetched for his glass of milk he devoured the beauty of the morning light remembering the bright face he had seen three months ago in the darkness of a library.
“What day was it?” he remembers.
It was a Thursday and it was nearly 8:00 pm. It was raining heavily, as Ram saw through the window outside the Panguwin library and the large, rusty looking female librarian haunted upon him out of thin air to clear the premises for the 13th time in the last one hour.
She lived in a house besides the library itself. She was a Principal in a reputed school in town who came to this village because of her father’s health. Her father was once a healthy man, a farmer, but few years ago he stopped farming and started to live in the outskirts of the village, where the library now has been built. He constructed a beautiful house on that land after buying it from Mukhiyachand.
It was quite low priced so he had to just sell 1/4th of his farming grounds to buy that part of the village. He was aloof from everyone when one day he was seen lying on the doorsteps of that house, though alive but thunderstruck. Mukhiyachand immediately called Mrs. Rita, the librarian to take care of her father. She became his caretaker and even retired from the Principal post for serving him.
Although she was affectionate to her father still Mrs. Rita’s educationist attitude didn’t leave her so she started a library by selling off another quarter of her paternal property to which her father consented ignorantly, and she named the library “Panguwin Library” the village form of Penguin, she’s quite a funny woman but only when you oblige to her.
