Meet Mr. Confused

‘The road not taken’ is a wonderful piece of work by Robert Frost. It efficiently elucidates the heart of a person in dilemma .What way to choose? Whom to consult? Is this the best option for me? All such queries dwell in the brains of people who are at a stage where they have to make a crucial decision regarding themselves and their future. After years of gala time, flippancy and a bit of studies, the insomniac time has come again and the stage is set. Parents, teachers, uncle, aunt are once again started with their interrogation. No day is free from this bombarding question: “Beta….aage kya karna hai?” So once again we have to make one important decision regarding our lives. And this time the situation is more labyrinthine, the choices are more intricate and making a sound and stable decision is imperative. What after graduation? On one side we might get a decent job but on the other side we ought to have a solid plan regarding our post-graduation. So let me first sort out the most probable options:

1. Getting a decent job and live life with fulltoo masti (at least for some time)
2. Preparing for CAT/GMAT and other M.B.A entrance examinations.
3. Preparing for Civil Services (IAS, IFS, and IRS etc.)
4. Preparing for GATE/GRE
5. Start up with your own venture or join your own business.

The choices are many more like whether go for a P.S.U or a big M.N.C or join Indian Navy sort of something or go for Consultancies ( as many M.B.A aspirants do) or join TCS/INFOSYS (for experience) . The list is relentless and so is the tension. I feel very unsure and confused. M.B.A after some work experience or straightaway. M.Tech or M.S. I might go for M.B.A but I also want to try my luck at U.P.S.C. Sometimes I want to be a researcher and some other time I prognosticate myself as a C.E.O of a big M.N.C. What to choose and what to leave? I feel dubious. I don’t really want to bemoan after some years and end up in criticising my callous attitude. I feel like a nomad who is lost in a desert. Will I ever be able to make a good decision? ….only time will tell.

  1. “Parents, teachers, uncle, aunt are once again started with their interrogation. No day is free from this bombarding question: “Beta….aage kya karna hai?” – Can totally relate to that, I was @ home a week or so back, and I had to take difficult decision of what to do, join company and be a slave or do things that you like, the worst part was convincing parents and people(most importantly relatives) around about why you don’t want to join, what you are doing and the dreams, the dreams that made you work and how close you are to realizing some of those.

At the end, I did what my heart said, chucked 3 offers, and am doing things I like, it might not pay as much, but there is satisfaction of doing things you like, not having someone shouting at your and most importantly taking one more step towards your dream.
