Mount Abu, also known as Madhuban, is an Oasis in the Desert. It is the only hill station in Rajasthan, situated very close to the Rajasthan-Gujarat border, in the Aravali hills.
The history of Mount Abu indicates that it was once under the rule of the Chauhan dynasty and later served as summer retreat for the royalty. The British too favoured this region and made it their impromptu getaway from the heat and dust of Rajasthan.
The best time to visit is when the winter is just turning into spring .The weather is pleasing and the tourists are just trickling in.
The easiest way to get there from anywhere is taking a train. There are direct overnight trains to Abu Road from both Mumbai and Delhi. There are ample options available to stay in Mount Abu. There are also some good resorts. For other options, you should go through the RTDC website.
What to do: Enjoy amazing sunset from the sunset point, do boating and pony ride at the Nakki Lake and relish the astounding beauty of the mountains. Buy Rajasthani paintings, jewellery and textiles.
Places to Visit: Dilwara Temples- Ranked among the finest temples of India; they exhibit an awesome marble work and some great Jain sculptures.
Nakki Lake- A beautiful lake surrounded by hills on all sides. It is the town’s focus, and one of its biggest attractions.
Peace Park- The Brahma Kumari Serene Peace Park is the realization of a dream, silence and recreation which co-exists here in natural environs. The park is nestled between two famous peaks of Aravali hills. You can opt for the open–air grass hut, the stone cave, the bamboo meditation hut or simply a quiet corner in the serene ambiance. The park offers a perfect recreation retreat
Sunset Point- Sunset Point is a popular and lovely place to watch the brilliant setting sun. Hundreds of people swarm this area in the evening amidst a carnival atmosphere. The mountains around Abu drop off fast and give way to a perfect sunset on the desert horizon. The colors are absolutely stunning
Brahma Kumaris Spiritual University & Museum- This organisation teaches that all religions lead to God and that the principles of each should be studied. There’s a Brahma Kumaris museum in town, the entrance labelled Gateway to Paradise! This place is absolutely not to be missed.
Some other attractions of the hill station include The Toadrock, The Guru Shikhar; the highest peak of the Aravali range, Achalgarh ; a fort built in the 14th century by Rana Kumbha of Mewar, Gyan Sarovar, The Sunrise Palace.
What to Eat: Mount Abu is a very good place for both Veg And Non Vegetarians. Delicious Rajasthani food. Spiced bhutta by Lake Mandakini, Dal Bati Churma, Tikkads and Dal by the roadside Dhaba, garam chai by Nakki Lake, Kulfi from the street stalls. You can enjoy your food at Hotel Shere-e-Punjab – A Dhhabba Type hotel famous for its mouth watering non veg. Lcuisnes like chicken Kadhai, Dhaba Gosht, and Chicken 65.
Concisely, the scenic view of the tranquil surroundings is ecstatic and therefore it serves as a perfect vacation spot if you want to take a break from the hasty city life. Cool and misty, Mt. Abu is a gem in the sky. The place is a wonderful rendezvous with nature and its multifaceted splendour. So, next vacation, Abu is the place to go!

I have been to Mt Abu as it is close to where I study, peaceful, not too expensive and the sight of clouds going across mountains and looking down from the mountain is really something that cannot be described. The best way to see Mt Abu is to take one of the bikes ( bullets preferably ).
