In my view, every piece of article that anyone writes starts with a basic idea, which in any usual case keeps on lying dormant in your mind; unless, until, it receives an initiation. The initiation in this case came in the form of a DTC bus ride from the university to my home.
Now, all the dtuites might be able to relate to the first example: The Great Broken Road, that we encounter almost everyday . Well, last year I was in South Delhi near the IIT campus and I had noticed a small thing. I had a notion that any broken road took at least a month to get repaired (in our case it has been just a bit longer) but there it took at most a week. This forced me to think where is the difference? Though there could be quite a lot of reasons to this, but if it’s because people in our area don’t complain; then I’d be disappointed.
(* I do acknowledge the fact that S.D. is a posh area, and is home to quite a lot of influential people, but just for argument’s sake….)
The second one is an example of great faith. It concerns a man: He knelt down, lay down on the road, did something of a prayer, got up and repeated the same till I would imagine, he reached Yamuna. Now faith is something I admire a lot; But it’s reduced to just that, because in our India, faith can be turned into a very potent weapon. People just don’t seem to get on and over with it. This is an aspect about which, looking amongst ourselves, I really feel good about. Coz we, the youth, in general, have shedded those mutual inhibitions and now a person’s credentials matter the most.
The third observation was that of a person spitting on the road. This seems to be a “right” exercised by people from the lowest to the highest categories: The Right to free debeautification of public services. Well, you and me are both guilty in this cause in one way or the other. I on a personal level try my level best to keep my campus clean and force a few of my friends to do the same too, but when it comes to my city; I’m guilty.
This is not meant to be a preachy article coz I’m bad at that; it’s just an observation. And since these are my views, they can be different. Any comments are welcome.

the funniest thing about spitting on road is that the same person who will spit on a road here will not do so in singapore. there he will marvel at the strict laws set against spitting!

Yeah. True its all about the mindset. If a similar law was legislated here people would just laugh it off!
