Nokia Lumia 920 might be the Finnish company’s much needed break to fight the competition given by Apple and Samsung. The phone has just been launched in India and the initial reactions from investors seem to be bad. They say it lacks the “wow” factor and may not do so well in the market.
Lumia 920 is the first Windows 8 phone and many eager techies who think this just could be a great new device to have. But serious buyers are still deliberating. Unlike the Nokia Lumia 900 that git a great response in New York and other cities across the world, the verdict so far is that Lumia 920 might not be a good buy.
Let us leave you to decide.
Here are a few specifications
Nokia keeps up to our expectations when it comes to sturdy phones. This one too is a strong baby.
Operating System – Windows 8, dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
Nokia Maps – gives you turn by turn directions even without internet connection
CityLens – This feature is essentially augmented reality software that gives details about businesses the phone captures with the phone camera.
SmartShoot – After clicking a pic you can edit it immediately by removing unwanted people and objects.
CinemaGraph – Lets you add motion to still images
Wireless Charging – Yes, the rumors about wireless charger is true. This is perhaps one of the coolest features. On top of that, you can also transfer audio to speakers with just a tap (available only for slect speakers)
One of the downside is compatibility of apps. More than 100,000 apps available in the market right now are for Windows 7. Though some may be compatible with Lumia 920, it will be some time before others are tweaked.
A Highly Embarrassing Episode for Nokia
Nokia had launched its new feature Pureview’s demonstration that showed two cyclists riding and taking a video. The video tries to show how Pureview technology stabilizes and cancels out hand shaking during video shooting. But the video it had launched was a fake. When reported, they issued an apology and changed the description of the video. You can see the clip here. Note at 00:27 the reflection in the mirror where you can see their camera crew actually doing the shoot.
