Silent treatment: Mental abuse in a relationship

If you are in a relationship of any kind, at one time or the other, you are going to encounter it. It is not just a fancy statement, it is actually a form of abuse called Silent treatment. This is one serious relationship breaker which keeps annoying you and your partner until one of you cannot take it anymore, and call it quits. This is the kind social rejection that affects everyone, everyday at its worst, it is silent treatment in a relationship, where a person gives a partner utter silence for days or week on end.

CAUSES:

Every relationship is composed of passive and aggressive partner with a variation in a degree of aggression.

*A person uses silent treatment in terms of defense.

*For ignoring the problem.

*For giving punishment to the partner.

EFFECTS:

*Social pain

*Social rejection, including Frustration, intense anger, etc.

*Psychological pain, including loss of control, increased stress, etc.

*It cast a shadow of uncertainty in a person’s life. It changes a person life completely.

HOW TO DEAL WITH IT:

*Keep your anger in check: Reacting to silence treatment in anger reinforces the abuser’s sense of control over you.

*Apologize first, ask WHY later: You cannot read mind, if you want to control the situation, first apologizes and accept your mistake, it can help you for making situation better.

*Express your feelings: Silent treatment would only end your relationship, it’s not good. You should express your feelings, your pain, love to connect with your partner’s heart. It shows your interest in relationship going.

*Have an open mind.

*Do not fight silence with silence: It would end the relationship completely, make the things even worse. One of you has to be grownup for perfect communication and for making the situation better.

*Explore the alternative: Ending the Unhealthy relationship is far better than staying in it and batting the bullet. Life is too short to spend in hate, anger and daily turmoil.

Well, it’s your own decision whether to stay or not in your relationship. But I suggest you to keep your love forever and find ways to make your relationship angelic and delightful.  Being silent is not the answer of any question. Think wisely for better options.

  1. how to get your ex back no contact

My last name is Winfrey. I divorced my wife many years ago. She remarried but still uses my last name. We have a son that I have no contact with. Because of her, he hates me. Which is fine but if you guys hate me so much, why are you still calling yourselves Winfrey’s?
