In a pleat
Adds flowers to add flair
In shades of saffron and white, prim and neat
She does it for weddings
She does it for offerings
She does it for dances
She does it for performanes

Jasmines and kanakambarams are fragnant
Look so vibrant
Jewels studded in the middle
May be large or may be little
But certainly add glory
Narrate a story
Associated with history
A symbol of purity
Th mala goes round at the top
But it doesn’t stop
It falls below
Into a spiral flow
Holding the hair
Preventing it from falling here and there

A time consuming work
But the time is worth
As it looks like a million bucks
Gives a chance to art appreciaters like us
To look back
And not just attack
And get mesmerisedby the expressive eyes
And graceful poses
But also notice
The elaborate hairstyle
Firm and fragile
Innovative in ornamentation
A symbol of devotion and re-incarnation

Stop being a follower
Of western culture and style
Look back and look inside
What you may find
Is value undefined
