The Chemistry between Us

I see you across the street,
like an ester, smelling sweet;
like a diagram’s heading- so bold,
so bright, so clear-
like freshly moulded gold,
seen from somewhere near.

Hear, oh hear;
nucleus of my heart,
that’s what you are,
and no Bohr, no Swart
can prove that bizarre.

Just like a metal,
you have your own lustre,
and so, to talk to you,
extra energy I have to muster.

You still stand there,
but I can’t come through;
steric hindrance has its share,
and like charge is to blame too!!

But like dissolves like,
and to shout it aloud,
I won’t need a mic;
And if only my heart
like the Sun could emit h
I could’ve really told,
just how much I need you.

So baby turn around
and see what I mean,
I’m a valence electron
and I need a place to be in.
I know not how to fashion,
I know not how to style;
I just love to love you,
Accept me like an electrophile.
