Raajneeti- a super hit which set the cash registers ringing in bollywood. It catapulted into the big league using murky plots with a ‘godfather ‘ inspired aristocratic authority. The vendetta meted out in capturing political power squirmed the onlookers but it highlighted a major problem in the political arena- DYNASTIC POLITICS .democracy is plagued by the evil called dynasty politics. The concept of dynastic politics which inherently runs throughout the film has some real insipiration.. Look around places like 10 janpath…..need we say more…….
Democracy is a government which is elected by the people and most importantly for the people. It redresses the grievances of people and give a voice to their demands, their dreams for a better nation. To accommodate these features, fair elections form the very foundations of democracy. To manipulate them would be termed as a crime against nation that is so dear to us. And dynastic politics is doing just that. By favoring the immediate members of family and gifting them ‘party tickets’ to contest elections , the political families are limiting the transfer of political power . The young, dynamic people consumed with a dedication to uplift the nation have casually been sidelined . Their merit and honesty are not given befitting respect thereby undermining their contribution.
The dynastic party elucidates the presence of the entire family in political arena. The patriarch of political powerhouses is the torch bearers. The meteoric rise of these can be attributed to their grit and determination and of course to their active grey cells. They are the recipients of people’s trust. But the baton is passed to their Armani clad sons and photogenic daughters. One important question that burns in the midst of political hegemony ‘are they justified doing so’ and most importantly ‘are they eligible for it’. The mammoth responsibility bequeathed to them is due to their purple blood not for their staunch devotion to peoples’ affairs.
Dynastic politics nullifies people’s power .a country where the parliament meet is comparable to family gathering cannot be rightfully called a democracy. Just put it as a subtle form of aristocracy. To have the reins of your country in the hands of one single unit is catastrophic.
The Armani clad sons and photogenic daughters should realize that this is our nation , our motherland , our India not some god forsaken luxury toy to toss around. And its better if we make them aware of this fact………
