The Great Indian October Fest (TGIOF) is all set to be bigger and grander this year. It expects 75,000 footfalls expected across its three-day course starting 22 October in Bangalore.
International bands from Italy, the UK and Canada will be among the 22 performers including a medley of local Bangalore bands as well as bands from across India. There will be flavours from all genres ranging from Electronica Rock to Classical Rock to Metal to Reggae and Indi Rock as well Bollywood contributions from Shaan, Mohit Chauhan and DJs Aqueel and Chico.
United Breweries Limited (UB) Senior Vice President of Marketing Samar Singh Sheikhawat says “October fest is the biggest musical intervention for us at Kingfisher. Over the years we plan to make it the biggest music event in India.”
Over the years, Kingfisherteam has experimented with the format of the musical event. Besides bringing in four international bands this year, it has included a ‘Metal Hour’ every day from 2 to 5 pm. It has added a lot more genres of musical performances and more non-music attractions.
UB wants to make TGIOF a tourist attraction for visitors to Bangalore, and has tied up with over 2500 travel agents in the country for offering packages and season tickets to the event and stays in three- and five star hotels in the city. Over the past two months or so, it has run around 350 events and contests in pubs, cafes, and other venues and had music events in nine major metros. UB has also organized curtain raisers at a number of cities to attract visitors from outside the city.
JWT handles the creative duties for TGIOF and Mindshare the media buying.
