This is the story of a girl who was caring, pulchritudinous, and transcendental too. The girl who was cherished, cared, praised by many people around the world, a girl who shared her peculiar and professional chats with many outlanders. Her name is Meenakshi Ramjaan (Name changed). I am sharing her story just to make people more enlightened about online friendship.
I met a girl, online, on Facebook, the social networking website. She sent me a friend request three years back. She was a student of Criminology from Mauritius. Her profile was so bona fide, a list of her siblings, bulk of her images, everything was convenient. I accepted her friend request. She became my friend, so far a part of my life.
We used to chat every day. 24 hours talks made her my soul sister. I stated canonized her like my real sister, as she completed the desertedness of my life. She was my best-friend cum sister. We used to share every little thing of our life. I was genuinely ecstatic, as I got a charismatic sister.
After one year, she entered into a relationship with a gentleman name, Sourav (Name changed), a student of engineering from Mumbai, India. Everything was methodical, and blissful. She made many friends online. Many strangers made her a part of their lives, just because she was so sweet like honey.
She used to update her profile with a lot of pictures, statuses, and we all used to comment or give our feedbacks on her post, a normal Facebook story where strangers become friends.
Mind it though none of us have seen her, she always refused to video chat, and gave us contrasting acumen regularly for it, and we unsuspecting folks always believed her. It never came to our minds that she can be pseudo too.
But three days back, something happened which naturally changed our lives. An unexpected dilemma came to demolish the happiness in our life. This change came with a big consternation in our life. It was like the Tsunami in Sahara Ocean. Yes, it was.
One day, 10.am in the morning, I received a friendship request from a stranger. Surprisingly, he was using a display picture of Meenakshi Ramjaan, my friend with her brother. I accepted the request to know the scene clearly. He was Visnam Ramjaan( Changed Name), a Chef from U.S. He messaged me first on Facebook. And this was a turning point especially for my friend Sourav. He messaged me, “I don’t want to be rude with you, but you are beautiful enough so why are you using a collage consisting of my wife pictures as your cover photo on Facebook.” The message was so flabbergasting, I answered, “even you are using picture of my friend with her brother.” I told him the name of my friend, Meenakshi Ramjaan. He told me that Meenakshi is his wife’s cousin, and he had many times consulted Meenakshi not to use his wife’s images. I was simply shocked and had no words to answer. After that I got message from his wife Sonakshi (Changed Name), she too was upset with her cousin.
In brief, Meenakshi was cheated us by using her fraudulent identity. Three years spent with no reluctance. And now this happened to us. After this case, Meenakshi deleted her as well as her fake siblings’ accounts. Her phone started coming ‘switched off’.
A dream of an engineer demolished. He was planning to change his job and shift to Mauritius. He wasn’t even able to face himself, after knowing such deception. A morose story of online friendship….
This is a real, irrefutable story. From this story, I just want to make many people aware not to believe any stranger. Online friendship has no real life gateway. Stay aware, Stay happy. Life is so short don’t waste it on spurious people.
