The SHORTER story of tennis

The All India Tennis Association(AITA) has been very inept to help itself escape from the series of tumult that resulted from the selection of two men’s doubles teams for the London Olympics. The root cause of the very tumult is the intimacy between Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna which made the each of them to stick to the point that they would be a part of a team.

Indian football legend Chuni Goswami accused the AITA of this disposition and commented that the AITA was not acting firm against the duo in the Olympics doubles team selection row and also commanded that some action be be taken against the two players.

The AITA had decided to pair Leander Paes and M. Bhupathi but the decision was thrown into the dying sun after the latter and Rohan Bopanna stuck to their stand that they would not play in the Olympics if they were not teamed up. AITA later announced two teams with Paes teaming up with lower-ranked Vishnu Vardhan, besides the Bhupathi-Bopanna pair.

While, it is more likely that Paes would terminate his part of the story by leaving the very ongoing field, the paradigm still lies on a strong ground of certainty. Bhupathi and Bopanna have been playing doubles for several months. The AITA is well aware of the fact that they have been preparing to represent India at the Olympics. Theirs is the best doubles team we have today. The AITA should have called the players for a meeting much in advance to sort out the issues. Paes has served Indian tennis for many years and has recently faced the very underlined injustice. But he should agree to AITA’s decision in the larger interest of the nation and play with Vishnu Vardhan

  1. Instead of bowing down to Bhupati and Bopanna , the AITA should’ve banned them sending a clear msg to everyone out there. Paes shouldn’t defy the orders of AITA. But then one should not forget that currently he is #1 for India. Looking at that, he should have been given priority instead of those morons.
