The “Sweet” entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship isnt always about making money and getting big and famous….

Little Molly and Carly were only 18 and 16 respectively when their grandfatherdied due to cancer. Their grandpa being their best friend so far, they were heartbroken at the loss. But they decided to show him that they loved him beyond words. And what speaks is action.

So they put their hobby to work and began “Hives for Lives”. They harvest, filter, bottle and sell this sweet things. The funds thus generated are donated for cancer research.

The story isnt as short and sweet as that. Initially they had to sell the product atcraft fairs, shows and such places. Slowly, they expanded to local bakeries, kitchen stores. They introduced beeswax candles also in their product range. The local Whole Foods started selling at the store’s Sunday farmer’s market. Soon, nine major market regions started stocking their sweet products. They also took online orders themselves.

Demand increased and Hives for Lives had to increase from the 23 beehives they had. They did this by partnering with market leader Dutch Gold Honey in Lancaster, Penn. Hives for Lives now supplements its own local honey sources with honey purchased from Dutch Gold and sells its 12-ounce jars.

They have been awarded and honored for their precious efforts time and again; someof them include the Prudential Spirit of the Community awardsas top youth volunteers, President’s Volunteer Service Award from former President George W. Bush.

Their noble aim of funding Cancer research gave them the Gloria Barron Prize for young heroes and of course, infinite blessings from humankind. They have  donated more than 170000 dollars to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Penn Abramson Cancer Centerand others.

Their team also include numerous volunteers of various age groups. Their enthusiastic team love to smile day long and spread this happiness.

All for a sweet cause.
