MARCH 28th 2012:
TIME: ABOUT 12.30 PM
So, it was a Wednesday afternoon, quite a boring one indeed. For 2nd year electrical students of NIET, Wednesdays are not just bad, they’re disastrous; 6 back to back lectures with just one break, no labs to chill out and top it all, 2 consecutive EMEC lectures. It’s a policy at my college that they don’t reveal the timetable setter , probably they know that the prof will be killed if students get to know his identity.
Any ways, so it was 12.30pm. About 20 WHOLE minutes were left for the boring materials lecture to get over, half of the class was busy sleeping, the committed ones were busy texting and the Facebook lovers were busy liking random pics and statuses. As for me, I was busy planning my competition schedules. Suddenly my phone kept on the wooden desk started vibrating. Arghhh these NOKIA phones, the vibra sound is as loud their ringtone; the vibra sound on the wooden desk broke the silence of the class, and the teacher noticed me derping around and not concentrating, and woke up the 3 kumbhakarans sleeping on the same bench.
The teacher kept looking at me furiously, as I quickly grasped my phone and kept it inside, she turned towards the board again, without a second wasted looked at the screen, It was a text message from an unknown number. I opened it, it said “heyy abhi…
“, “Whos this?“, I replied and kept the phone in my pocket, a few seconds later I got a reply that said “kya abhi…. u don’t remember me… that’s bad
“. I knew someone was fooling around . It was pretty obvious, immediately I looked around in order to see, who it could be, but I couldn’t find anyone, who could do this. It must be some of my other friends form other branches, I thought and ignored the message.
A few minutes later, I got another text, “why aren’t u replying????“, I ignored it, that’s possibly the best way to irritate someone who’s trying to irritate you
. I thought either the person would reveal his/her identity or stop texting. But something completely opposite happened, minutes I started receiving infinitely continuous calls and messages. The missed calls toll raised to 85 in just 10 minutes. I was frustrated now, but didn’t reply. But the calls didn’t stop. So as soon as the lecture ended I picked up my phone and called at that number. My call was rejected, I tried again, the same thing happened. I then received a message, “CAN”T PICKUP THE FONE RIGHT NOW….. PLS TEXT”.
I was frustrated, I decided to ignore all the subsequent calls and messages. A few minutes later I got another call from the same number, I ignored it (as decided), but then there was a CALL-ATHON, the calls and messages didn’t end. In a time span of 1 hour. I got 200 missed calls and about 50 texts, all saying the same thing “WHY DON”T YOU RESPOND ???”. I was angry, there’s a limit to fun and fooling around.
So as soon as the lecture ended, I grabbed the phone of a friend and dialed the number, the call was rejected, I tried a couple of times again, rejected again . A few seconds later I get a message “Cnt rcv any calls, pls text“.
I was pissed off, so I opened up my phone’s message editor and wrote “Listen, whoever u are, the next text of ur’s must hv u’r name or I won’t reply“
10 minutes passed and I got a message, ” arrey its me stupid…… devika“. Alright I knew someone called Devika, we were college mates, and coincidentally were at a same competion, but hey we were not close enough to be sharing prank message. I knew this was someone else. And then I got another message which proved me right “U remember we met at QUASAR-12, u were acting“. I did not talk to any outsider (except for the coordinators, none of whom was named Devika) at QUASAR, in fact me and Devika had met at another completion, about which I had told some of my other friends. So the domain of possibilities decreased. So I stopped replying and secretly checked the phone of all the people who I had told about the Devika, strangely none of them had that number stored or in the call logs. So it made me to think, who could it possibly be, but my head went blank.
1 hour later, I got another text “ab toh pata lag gaya mai kaun huu, ab toh reply karooo“, “I did not meet any Devika at QUASAR-12!!!!, I know u’r faking it so temme who u are“, I replied. 5 minutes later “I can’t call you now, and we did meet at QUASAR, our meeting was short but I found u influential, so I manage to sneak out u’r number, I need you, this is serious “. I knew this was all fake and that “I need you” line made it more clear. I had done similar things with other. So I stopped replying. It was 5 and I headed back to home, 1 hour had passed and I got no text/call and neither did I get any more call. I thought all the natak was over.
