My Tryst with F1

Imagine the sound of the Norse Thunder gods, those big burly men with deep massive voices, now try imagining their big hairy dogs, brutes of no small measure and now imagine them barking. That’s the sound of the Red Bull exhaust. And it drove me mad with happiness.

I arrived at the F1 track today hoping to be impressed. I am an F1 nut and when I say that I don’t mean some guy who just watches F1 a lot. When I watch I have lap times running on my phone keeping me up to date with each lap time run by each driver every lap so I know which driver is doing what and trying to follow what kind of strategy. I watch illegal feeds of practice sessions from around the world, because we don’t get practice sessions in India, just so I can see what kind of programs a team is running and what upgrades they plan for the race.

So credentials established now, I delve into what is unquestionably one of the most profoundly religious experiences of my life. My seat is at the end of the longest straight on the Buddh International Circuit and the F1 cars come screaming down the straight and brake at the last opportune moment to take the best possible racing line out of the corner. Under braking the bark of the exhaust, because if the hot blown diffuser tech, was really astonishing.

The first time I heard the Red Bull F1 car under braking I went into a tizzy and almost laughed my head off. It was like listening to the angriest and most vicious animal ever made growling his head off with lust, as if sensing a female in heat! I will take that spine tingling and earth-shattering sound to my grave. It was truly the most magical piece of music I ever heard my whole life and I have had the pleasure to listen to the great works of almost all the old masters of music!

The F1 experience then was truly fantastic. As I write this I am all prepped up to go to the Practice 3 and qualifying tomorrow and then the race the day afterwards. If you are not one for watching F1 then fear not for I will update you about it over the next 2 days too! Till then adios amigos!
