Us Against the World!

As the world stood crumbling,
Ashes, fire, smoke, dust!
I looked at her,
the face; damp, beneath all that soot!
This is the end,
of the dreams, the hopes, the world!
It’s us against the world,
It’s us against the forces!

The ground shook in it’s stillness,
The skies crackled, stormed, shouted!
It was her hand in my hand,
for the strength!
It was her face, amidst chaos,
for the calm!
This is the end,
of the dreams, the hopes, the world!
It’s us against the world,
It’s us against the forces!

A sharp explosion, a mushroom of dust;
Fires; touching the skies, lighting the night!
She turned to me, in hope!
Her eyes damp, red!
I pulled her close to me,
She shut her eyes.
For a moment in violence,
I found serene!
This is the end,
of the dreams, the hopes, the world!
It’s us against the world,
It’s us against the forces!
“It’ll be alright!”, I lied!
She tilted a bit, kissed my lips!
Just at that moment,
the sky lit again!
In a flash, it all came crashing down,
the hopes, the dreams, the world alike!
It’s us against the world,
It’s us against the forces!
