“Fatties stop eating patties.”Mind it if you won’t do that, then nothing can stop you from beating your jumbo sized neighbor in terms of weight and I am quite sure that you won’t like to win this grand slam title. In the age where pizza reaches people faster than the police (I guess that is the reason we see most of our respected policemen’s with spare tyre.) it’s difficult to avoid a paunch. Dominos, Mc.Donalds, Pizza Hut, KFC serve a variety of fit for king food that nobody can control themselves. Upper classes continue with their consumption of excess of fatty meals while the poor remains skinny.
The Big Fat Problem is not a new problem. It’s high time that we should grapple this problem. The drive against this mother of epidemics should gain momentum. People should be educated about the risk factors involved.
A recent study by OECD has ranked India at the forefront of the obesity epidemic.17% of the youngsters between the age group 14-18 years are obese. The sole reason behind it is that they consume more than what is recommended. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 1.2 billion people worldwide are officially classified as overweight. This is probably the most sedentary generation of people in the history of the world.
Obesity is not an individual problem. It can gift its victim with 53 more diseases. Obesity can result in diabetes; alter blood pressure, heart disease and several other health related issues. Almost 65% of adult Indians are-either overweight or obese or have abdominal obesity. Obesity is also the primary cause of many non-communicable diseases (NCDs). A latest study has revealed that by 2030, non communicable disease will account for nearly 70% of all global deaths and 80% of these deaths will occur in developingcountries like India.
Adopting a balanced diet containing vegetables, proteins, and fruits is the foremost step needed in this regard. A nutritious diet can solve half of the problems. Eat small meals regularly at frequent intervals. Eat more fiber rich food items like whole grains, grams and sprouts. Cut down sugar, fatty foods and alcohol. Regular exercise can help you battle the bulge efficiently. Eat less fried foods.
So guys put on your thinking caps.”Health is wealth”. Don’t ruin it because of the spicy KFC chicken, cheesy pizzas of Pizza Hut or the yummicous burgers of McDonalds. It is the time to trim and uproot this man made epidemic.
