I am Indian and its give me a proud feeling. I am citizen of world’s largest democracy, a SUCCESSFUL DEMOCRACY. Not every country has been successful in establishing a republic government which we can see in our neighboring country Pakistan where no government is able to complete its full tenure.
Movements by Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev and many other socialists proves our strength in democracy. But now I am afraid, afraid of this type of democracy where everything is for the power and to remain in power. Nothing to do with the people, for the people. Some latest incidents highlights the weak bonds of democracy. Riots in Assam, exodus from Bengaluru and Pune, scams of size of dinosaurs are few of them. Riots in Assam was between people of Bangladesh and Bodoland’s people. Many people died just because mass of people from Bangladesh were given Indian Ration Card by ministers to increase their vote bank. Primary definition of democracy-“of the people, by the people, for the people” has been changed to- off the people, bye the people, far from the people just for the purpose of fulfilling personal desires.
Government is now ready to introduce new bill in parliament to give reservation in promotion. Now the basic motive of giving reservation was to bring backward people to main stream. This was scheduled for 10 years in constitution but is still continuing. When the promotion in government is purely on the basis of seniority there is no need of such bill which divide people. But how can we forget now the only motto is vote bank.
I am not against reservation, it’s the need for the people of backward classes and I too think it’s good for India’s development and will be the milestone for future India, brighter India. But the misuse of it will take us to the depth where sunlight will never reach. Time has come where we have to think for India and not our personal benefits. In hope – “ Hamare Neta bhi Samjhenge.”
